Timing belt every 90k miles, so you're due for the 2nd one. Unless you can find proof that the previous owner replaced the belt somewhere between 90k & now.
Your ABS system (up through 1997) is supposed to pump up pressure in it's accumulator, so it's normal to hear that sound when you first start the car. And occassionally while driving, if you actually work the ABS by braking on ice or snow. But it's NOT normal for the ABS lamp to come back on.
Check out this for bleeding your ABS system.

Also look in the DIY section for something about reading OBD-1 error codes. You jumper an electrical connector with a paperclip & watch the CEL flash it's code. Except you'll be watching for the ABS light to flash it's own code.

On my 94 EX Sdn, the service check connector is pinned to a dummy holder directly underneath the glove box. You pinch the male connector and withdraw from the holder.
Short the two pins in the connector w/ a paper clip or other wire, turn keyswitch On, and ABS will flash the codes. All short flashes, w/ short pause between 1st and 2nd digit, and long pause beween successive codes: ffff-p-f = code 4-1. Single or multiple codes repeat.
Post codes for guidance.
good luck
