01 Accord, shakes at highway speed and braking
01 Accord, 4dr, v6, auto 125xxx
Hey just had a question, at highway speed my steering wheel as a slight vibration and a visually noticeable shake, and upon braking the shake is more violent, not to point that its scary but its still pretty bad and not normal. The tires have reasonable tread (bout 3/4 left), and arent weathered but thats not to say a tire band isnt out of whack. And someone told me to jack up the car and try to wobble and push in or pull out on either tire to see if its a wheel bearing but it wouldnt move.
Any idea on what the issue could be?
thanks alot

It might be "warped" brake rotors or a bad tire.
Rotate your tires front to rear, or better yet install others (for example winter set on their own rims?). Look whether the shaking moves to the rear or dissappears.

I had the same problem you are when my rotors were warped just a few weeks ago. Take it to a shop that will give it a look for free, most do. Mine cost $365 for parts and labor at $65/hr for labor, I can take a look at the quote to let you know how many hours when I get off work tonight. That's also accounting for the hub-over-rotor garbage for my car, I'm not sure how long Honda did that, but it added a bit to the labor.

You get it at speed without the brakes being applied? Unless the rotors are that far out of align....?
I'm leaning towards steering parts or tires. Tires ok? Steering parts, jack the front of the car up, proper safety, and grab the tire(s) at 3 and 6 and shake it, is there movement? Do the same at 6 and 12 just to be sure. A bad inner/outer tie rod can give the same feel, IMO.

I was having it at 65+mph normal driving without braking, especially in corners, and the problem has disappeared since I got new rotors and bearings up front. Mine, however, was bad to the point of being scary, so they could well have been "that" far out of alignment.

Sorry I didnt get back sooner. The vibration was mostly at speed of 70 but still did it a bit at 40, it was worse upon braking. Changed the pads and rotors and now all is well. However now i can hear this strange "woom woom" kinda noise from driver side front. It is not engine related becuase it stays constant even when going down the road in nuetral and revved, the sound only changes upon speeding up or slowing down the car. Its also not tranny related because sound is unchanged between gears, and i dont think its cv because its not leaking anything or clicking. I did the tie rod and wheel bearing test where you jack up car and do 9 and 3 for ties and 6 and 12 for bearing and it was tight as could be. I'm gonna try switchin out front tire for doughnut to see if its tire otherwise I think it might be wheel bearing because honestly idk what else it could be lol
