01 LX shifter selonoid not working
well after 265K miles, it seems the shifter selonoid has finally quit workiing. It was intermittent for some time, but now not functioning at all.
Using a screwdriver in the little slot to the left of the shifter is sufficing, but I'd like to disconnect the silly thing.
How much trouble is it to pull the center console up for access to this part? Will I need to remove the drivers seat?

Thanks for asking that question. I just checked, and indeed all 3 brake lights are NOT working.
Is the brake light switch the most likely place to start? The situation was intermitent for nearly a year before the solenoid stopped working altogether

If your brake lights aren't working and you can't shift out of Park, then it is most likely a problem with the brake light switch (aka brake pedal position switch).
The switch itself also is not that expensive. Believe or not, on some models, the dealer sell the brake light switch for less than aftermarket.
