02 accord coupe wheel bearing question
My brothers car needs a wheel bearing in the rear and every shop we take it to wants an astronomical price to do it since they're press in bearings and I can't do it myself because I don't have the tool to press them in. now what are the difference between hub bearings and wheel bearings? I ask because I was thinking of just replacing the whole hub assembly and saving money doing it myself. Is this plausible? I have mechanical experience but I've never dealt with this before.

Are the wheel bearing and hub bearing the same thing? That's what I'm having trouble deciphering right now.
Most places will show a picture of what you are buying......wheel vs hub can "interchange" depending on the site/place.....hum age of the person...providing the "description" of the part.
Looking at the service manual, both the rear disc/drum set ups are a full assy....bearing and hub being made together.
So that makes me wonder about the "shops" giving the quotes :shurg: . To me the hardest part of the job is the 134 to 139 ft lbs the axel nut is.
