I have a clunking noise in the rear of the car when going over bumps. Had up on a lift and can't find it. Any suggestions would help Thanks

A clunk can come from a number of rear suspension components.

Search for scFbb43fwqk on YouTube. This is a video on how to locate suspension noises.

Clap, did you ever figure out what this was? This seems to be a common issue with the Accords ... I can't figure out where mine is coming from either.

It is usually play in the lower sway bar either at the links or just as common the rubber bushings where the brackets hold the assembly to the under body have excess play. Both areas of play can be hard to impossible to feel with the sway bar bolted on the car.

The above assumes the rest of the suspension is tight.

Sway bar bushings and links were the first things I changed out. I also replaced shocks and springs all around, and on the right side where the noise is coming from, all three lateral control arms.

I did not replace the front bushing on the trailing arm, though -- so one thought is that it's knocking over hard bumps which are pulling the wheel backwards.

My other thought is that it's in the spring/shock assembly ... I have Eibach Pro Kit springs which are 30mm shorter than stock, and Koni STR.T shocks which have full stock extension, so when I put the spring/shock assembly I did not have to compress the spring at all to get the top nut on. So when I have the car up on jacks and the suspension hanging, I can actually move the spring around a tiny bit. Under load it's at least 3 inches shorter and there is plenty of load -- but that no-load loosenes isn't enough to cause noises over bumps, is it?
