Hello there,

my cousin has an 03 accord ex 4 cyl, the check engine light came on and the dealer says it's the TP (throttle position) sensor that is bad. Is this correct?

the car does stutter when driving, the dealer wants 450 canadian for the part .


Any thoughts if this is the issue? And do you think just cleaning it will solve it?

If you had the actual error code number (P1234 or whatever) we can help you better. If it's the TPS, it doesn't automatically have to be a bad sensor. Look for dirty/loose/corroded connections from the wiring harness. Cut-open insulation on the wires? Stuff like that.

The "official" story is the TPS is not available by itself - you gotta buy the whole throttle body.

But you could find a throttle body in a salvage yard & swap the TPS over. The "rivets" that hold it on are really screws. You just have to use a dremel tool & cut a screwdriver-slot into their heads.

 

There are also some aftermarket TPS sensors that you can buy. Blox and Omni are brands that I have heard of.

 

I have a 2007 accord which threw a ck engine light and it said bad throttle body code think maybe p2135 forget.....Guess what it wasn`t the sensor or throttle body luckly the 07`s are only less then half in price then the 03`s....03`s i believe are around 380.00 while the 07 is only 130.00.....but my money was wasted by a Honda Tech...telling me replace tb tps.........ecu....ect

 

i still think it may be air in the cooling system????weird......

 

clock spring 140.00....Hey I got alot of OEM new factory parts accumulating in my boat. Our dealership must suck..

 

believe it or not thats one of the 1st things i told them to check then they purged it it ran fine for awhile 600 miles,,,then same problem all the time...Just by luck I saw a drip of antifreeze come out of the back heater hose. So I figured **** replace the hose...it acted up a little but ran 100%better after a few miles........It went 7000 miles no problems all of a sudden it acts up again but soon is ok..when its acting up it idles between 1.5 and 3 grand slams into gear has very little throttle,won`t go up hills well couple times thought it wasnt gunna make it up..No body knows I guess I still have air that wont come out???????????????
