Any ideas? Car will start and shift, but after turning car off we can not get the key out.

 

Check to make sure the shifter button is not slightly depressed. See this thread:

Thanks for reply redbull. Today I tried again but it would not come out. Then my daughter ran to the store about three miles away. Stopped and the key came right out. Has the last three times. I looked over the link you sent to me. Thanks. My shifter has the button on the side. We can only hope it does not lock up again, or at least locks up at home.

 

Hope it stays okay. The link is the same generation Accord, that person's picture shows it with the shift **** off. It is the same exact mechanism.

Next time if happens, try pressing the **** several times to see if the problem still exist. If not, then post back to see if there are may be other possible solutions.
