04 Accord EXL - A/C blowing warm?
Hi All
I just bought a used 04 Accord EXL (loaded) that the dealer assured me was thoroughly checked and everything was working. When I turn the temperature down and press the button for AC,only warm air blows out. Is there some fuse or something I can check here?
The fan belt does go around the AC compressor, the engine does incur a heavier load, but still no cold air. Maybe I should ask for the system to be pressure tested or something? Any ideas?
Thanks
Steve

Here are some quick things to check on the A/C system. Both radiator fans should turn on when you turn on the A/C with the car running.
Also look that the clutch plate on the face of the a/c compressor pulley. When the a/c is off, the plate should not spin. When you turn the a/c on, that clutch plate should engage with the pulley and spin at the same rate as the compressor pulley.

I guess they checked it pretty thoroughly, huh?
Check the water valve in the heater hose. Look in the engine compartment, on the firewall, about center. One heater hose has a valve operated by a cable. With the engine running, have someone turn the temperature dial all the way up & then down. Make sure that valve actually moves.

Well the dealer admitted the techs probably didn't even check the A/C. They had me run it to a local rad shop, who replaced a relay and charged the system. Seems these systems are to be charged every three years anyway, or so my local Honda dealer Service Dept told me. Anyway, the dealer paid the bill, my A/C is ice cold and I am all set! Thanks for all the suggestions and support, nice to not feel so alone when problems occur.
