Over the past month or so I've been having a hard time starting my car every once and a while. Got a new battery because I knew I needed on anyways and the issue still persisted.

Finally, yesterday I could never get it started. I tried jumping it and that didn't work. I then used the trick of tapping the starter while someone turned the key and that finally got it to start. I was able to turn it off and on and it started fine the morning after when I brought it into the mechanic. They tested the starter and said the results were fine, with the starter cranking a little slow. They think it's still the starter, but were timid because I'll be out $500 for something that just might fix it.

Is there anything else that it might be? Tapping the starter as the only way to get it started leads you to believe that the starter is the issue, right?

Any help is appreciated, because my car is currently at the shop and will be until tomorrow when they do the replacement (unless I shouldn't)?

 

Sounds like its nearing its life expectancy..I would remove and have it tested..remember you get what you pay for as a replacement..
