Default 05 accord P0970 - need help identifying a fuse/wire

Hey guys,

I have an 05 accord EX V6 auto with 250k+ miles and yesterday on way back from Sam’s club about 20 miles away after a gentle push on the gas from red light my D (drive)green light started blinking alone with CEL came in and the TCS light came on as well.

Got home, parked it and scanned for codes and I got P0970,
P0970 Pressure Control Solenoid C Control Circuit Low.

Took it to Autozone, they said they do not have anything for P0970 and it’s not even in their system for cross reference. I couldn’t find anything in Honda genuine parts and looked through the forum and the code only came up couple time where the guy had a manual tranny, so it didn’t help.

Does anyone know what’s going on here, what part do I need to replace and its location? Kinda stump here as I didn’t find anything with that code on YouTube either.

Took it to advance auto, they scanned and their scanner also picked P2770 which I’m assuming is due to the P0970 code since the symptoms of P2770 sounds as a result of P0970. But Advance auto didn’t have a library of codes either and said to google it lol.

Is the pressure control solenoid same as pressure switch? Then what is C and where is it located. Have you replaced it or how do you go about replacing it.

so I started looking for the obvious issues, transmission fluid is good, level is correct, no metal shavings or cloudy, looking under the fuse box under the hood I noticed a charred fuse maybe? This might be the problem. Can anyone identify what this part is called and where can I find a replacement

This was placed against the wall, you can see the black spot

When I pressed on it to detect it some gooye stuff like grease came out

My 05 TSX has a similar unplugged electrical connector near the fuse box. I believe is it for a component that does not come on US Accords. In general, OEM honda wiring doesn't have in-line fuses, so don't put a fuse in there. At maximum, clean up the grease with something like WD-40 and put some silicone grease in there to prevent corrosion. This isn't likely your problem with the PCM codes.

P0970 is for the A/T clutch pressure solenoid valve C open/short.
P2770 is for the torque converter clutch solenoid valve circuit open.

The root cause can be the solenoid, the electrical connections, the wiring, or possibly the PCM. I don't think the transmission hydraulics can cause these codes, but I'm not 100% sure.

It is probably worthwhile to get an OEM shop manual for your car. automanualsource.com has the 7th gen shop manual for $22 and is worth the investment.

I attached a pic of the locations of the solenoids. I'd start by unplugging the sensors electrical connectors, inspecting the pins, then clean the connectors to ensure you have good contact. The solenoids typically have screens to catch any debris that can clog them and might be worth a shot to remove the component and clean any debris blocking fluid flow.

Thanks for the diagram, last image next to the screwdriver is the solenoid C right.

the 2 connectors I disconnected in red and black are the solenoid B and A

can’t forgive out where’s the torque convertor clutch solenoid

The brown 3P connector is known as Option Connector - C310.

Here is a photo of the option connector; in addition to some of the A/T control connectors.

Thanks that was super helpful!! I checked all wiring, no nicks or cuts, everything looks intact even removing the sheathing. I pull a report from my scanner if it helps understand this any better. Only thing left is 2 replace the C solenoid first and then the torque converter if it does solve the issue.
