Exclamation 06 Accord with dual AC . I have elect issue no AC

so 2 months ago i had an aftermarket head unit touchscreen installed. after about a week of things working great, I found myself sitting in a parking lot idle and I smelled something and then I saw a little smoke coming out from behind the head unit. i uninstalled the unit after cutting power immediately. i couldn't find any wires melted or anything showing signs of being charred or anything of that nature. i thought maybe if I put the original radio back in I would regain control of the AC and radio. i have everything except cold AC which I had before any of this started, in a recap. AC and radio worked fine with original parts etc then a new head unit was installed and the AC wouldn't work but the radio all worked. then it smoked a little bit so the new unit came out immediately and the old or original went back in. still no AC. i have had the compressor looked at by a shop and everything around the compressor is good no issue but it won't kick on. the blower blows but blows hot air. The radio still works and we are using the original parts nothing related to the new head unit is in the car now. any advice on where I should start to try and track down what occurred and where to look etc? what tools could I use or need to use while tracking this issue down? I'm honestly trying to avoid the shop again because I got ripped off a bit and I want to try and pinpoint what the issue is before going to a shop this time around to save the $ on diag and shop times etc. Please help

I got confused on your post. Your no a/c issue happened right after you installed the new head unit? But you got the burning/smoke about a week later?

How did you adapat the wiring to the aftermarket unit? Was it spliced, or did you need a conversion harness to plug into the existing Honda harness?

Open the common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum. There is a link on checking HVAC codes for your year accord. This could help pinpoint the a/c issue.

I'd recommend going to automanualsource.com and get the shop manual pdf for the 03-07 accord. Cost is ~$22 and worth the investment. This will have wiring diagrams and pinouts for the HVAC unit. I'd check for power and ground using a digital volt meter at the HVAC electrical connectcor to see if you are missing one of them.
