'06 Accord Sedan: New tires, what pressure?

Default '06 Accord Sedan: New tires, what pressure?

Hello,

I just replaced my tires on my 2006 Accord EX 4cyl sedan (205/60R-16). Got 40,000 out of the original Michelins and now went with BF Goodrich Advantage T/A.

Had them installed and my mechanic said that he inflated the tires to 36 lbs all-around because 'I'll get better mileage' with that inflation instead of the suggested 32 front, 30 rear.

Well, I've noticed that my ride is really hard now and I'm thinking of going back to the '32-30' pressure as noted on my door sticker. Does anyone think that my ride is so hard now because these are new tires?

Any ideas and opinions are appreciated!

If you stayed with your same size stock tires, go with the door sticker air pressure...

I have a 06 accord also and I run 32 all around and it rides awesome!!

Changing the tire pressure isn't permanent. You can TRY it & see.

He was right, you'll probably get better fuel mileage. You'll probably also wear out your tires faster. I measure tread depth at center & edges, then adjust pressures based on that. With some experience, I've established pressures that work for ME.

Yes, I've got them at 32 front and 30 rear and what a difference in the ride: nice and smooth. So I guess I'll stick with the original pressures.

If you feel like measuring tread depth, check them after say 5k miles. More wear in the center means the pressure's too high. More wear at the sides of the tread means it's too low. Unless you choose something different based on comfort.

If you actually race or autocross then there's a whole different philosoply of how to choose pressures.

Also, keep them rotated. This is cheap insurance on possibly getting better or at least more even wear.

x2. Rotate tires every time you change oil.
