well, the p0172 is a rear bank rich condition code. more than likely it is being triggered by the p0497 code, which is either the FTP sensor or the EVAP canister vent shut valve <<<this has my vote. in any event, don't worry about the p0172 until you get the p0497 fixed first.

P0172 = system too rich
P0497 = EVAP low purge flow

EVAP purge flow is when the EVAP purge valve opens and the engine draws some air into the intake manifold, through the EVAP canister. Look for obstruction in that line. It sucks through the EVAP line which is a steel line alongside the fuel lines under the car. Is it crushed from a rock kicked up by the tires? Corrosion? For that matter, what about the EVAP purge valve being pluged with corrosion?

System too rich? Maybe try a bottle of Techron or something like that in the fuel tank. Even if it doesn't work you haven't wasted much money.
