Default 08 V6 removal

Hey everyone. I am new to the Honda world. I am a Subaru Master Tech. I am looking at buying an 08 Accord Coupe AT with a 3.5L. It has a blown engine. I am doing some research before going ahead and doing it. ALLDATA procedure shows to drop the engine/trans as an assembly out the bottom of the car. I don't want to go through all that trouble if I don't have to. So is there anyone out there that has pulled the motor out the top of the car??? Any help is appreciated!

I don't see why you couldn't pull the engine out from the top of the car.

Either way, it will be a lot of work to pull the engine.

O.E. site has the same procedure to remove from under car...same as Alldata...which processes info direct from Honda, word for word, pic for pic. One can never assume, but I would guess they published the easiest procedure to remove the engine/trans assy.

I'm sure they publish the easiest procedure for a repair facility to remove the assembly. But I plan on doing it in my garage. I've pulled dozens of engine/trans assemblies out the bottom with the subframe. But that was in the shop where I could just secure the subrame with the engine/trans on a roller and lift the body above my head. I am sure it can be done, I guess I was hoping to hear someone has done it before. LOL

This guy lifted the engine from the top on the previous generation Accord V6; but, he did remove the subframe underneath.

Thanks! That was a good read, but he actually dropped it all out the bottom. He had some sort of ramp or hoist that lifted the car high enough to drop it all out the bottom.
