Default 1982 accord few issues..

After a recent engine swap I've been fixing everything the person who performed the work for me did wrong. I didn't have a location to do it myself so made the mistake of having someone else do something I should have done. Oh well, live and learn.

Onto the problems.

Tachometer: The tach is doing some funky fluctuations when moving down the road. I can hear the engine enough to tell it isn't fluctuation like the tach so I think the problem may revolve around a lose connection somewhere. This problem just started recently.

I'm getting a wierd clicking noise that seems to be coming from center or passenger side under the dash when the ignition is on. But it's intermittent and is not always there. The Blower Motor Does work.

And I can't remember the rest at the moment. LOL

Any ideas on those two?

Thanks,
Larry

what motor did you swap? either way the distributor should have a blue wire coming from it which is the tach wire. thats probably loose. clicking noise? id have to hear it

Doh, Now I feel stupid. I swapped out the Coil Wire after the idiot that swapped the engine for me didn't get it on tight and wiggled lose to spark and catch fire. I probably tweaked the wire when I was putting the Coil Wire on.

The engine came out of an '82 Prelude. Same 1.8L Long Block as is used in the '82 Accord. The Exhaust, Intake, and Transmission were all kept from the Accord.

To add the clicking sounds electronic. I just can't trace down what under the dash it could be coming from other than I suspected the Blower, but that is working properly and this sound continues with the blower off........

maybe the clicking noise is from the ignition. not the electrical part but the mechanical one.

I'm running through my mind of what is on the Passenger Side or Center for the ignition and can't think of anything that could be causing this sound.

It is Definitely NOT coming from the drivers side. And it appears sometimes when the car is not running.....

behind the glove box is the main relay which comes on when you click the key on. there is a mechanical lever in the ignition that activates this relay...its the same part that makes the sound when the key is in and you open the door and hear that noise.

I really need to get a Service Manual for this car. Both Haynes and Chilton are trash for this year.

I will check that, hopefully it isn't the Main Relay. Dealer quoted $345.00.

no no the relay is probably fine....when its bad your car doesnt start. im just talking about the ignition. probably if you pull it out and spray some graphite in there that might even fix it.
