Default 1987 Civic

I have a '87 CIVIC with a carb. The car died on me with a warm engine, when I tried to start it, it fired right back up. I drove for not more than a quarter mile, when it died again. I pulled off the road and tried to start it about 3 or 4 times, with no luck. I had it towed to a garage and checked out. The garage owner called me and said that the carb was OK? that it was an issue with the distributer not advancing. Would this cause the carb to flood? that does not make munch sense to me. Any thoughts from anyone? After I tried to get it started, I removed the air filter cover, and could see gas in both sides of the carb.

I am not great with carbs. I think the distributor is advanced by vacuum. That is where I would start.

Open the thread below and open the honda tech link. That site has a shop manual for the 84-87 civic.

https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...-manuals-4597/

Page 11-8 shows how to check for engine codes and may be a good place to start.
