1990 Accord has spark and fuel but doesnt start
I got the ICM but when installed, the car still didnt start. When I hold the gas peddle down and crank the engine it seems to "backfire" but kind of like the timing is off. And it blows air back out the throttle body too. Im going to get new spark plugs wires tomorrow because I notice those were probably stock and the car has 130000 miles. I was told that the spark plug wires might messed up inside.
Read my writeup in the DIY section called how to get CEL codes. You may have to change the viewing options at the bottom so you can see all the threads.
Short the service connector and count the check engine light flashes and the D4 or the sport shift (S light) flashes. Let us know what you find.

ok I checked the CEL codes. My CEL and D4 goes off after 2 secs indicating no codes. My ECU led light blinks once short and my TCU led light blinks once long. Now im not sure if they are supposed to blink once because the TCU light blinks at the same time as the fuel pump priming. Might just be a coincidence. I guess my question is if you have NO codes should the ECU and TCU blink at all? Also my CEL has never came on telling me there was a problem, except like its supposed to for 2 sec at startup
Somehow you're not getting spark or spark is off in timing. Check timing again to see if timing light is firing w/ spark plugs in place and if igntion timing is acceptable (I think you have a rubber grommet to remove and check timing marks on flywheel).
Is it possible you installed distributor 180 deg off? Don't laugh, it's easy to do and not that easy to recognize. If you had any problems installing distributor and getting distributor flush w/ cylinder head, you may have mis-installed. I've managed this feat twice, to my shame.
The key to correct installation is to observe distributor base alignment to cylinder head. If it's flush all the way around, you have correct installation. If one side is not flush, you have a problem.
good luck

I have used the search and couldnt find this exact problem. First the accord sat for about two years in a storage before I got it. The PO said that he changed the front tires and drove the car about 5 min to test tires and then he parked. about 15 min later he came out and the car wouldnt start. Its cranks but never fires up. I checked spark and it had none so I checked coil and it was bad. I replaced it and now it has good spark. I can see gas being sprayed out of the injector through the spark plug hole. So it has bright spark and fuel. The PO replaced the cap and rotor after the car died too. Im thinking Crankshaft Positioning Sensor (CPS), or Ignition Control Module (ICM). It seems like the timing is a little off but I checked that too and its good. Would I have spark with a bad ICM? Also I put new gas and seafoam fuel stabilizer in the gas tank. When I spray starting fluid in throttle body the it "backfires" out of throttle body. Also firing order is right so thats not it? How do I check the CPS or ICM?

Let us know any troubleshooting you did on your own or suggested on this thread and any recent work done on the car, because you could have a similar symptom, but a completely different root caus.
