Default 1991 Accord just up and quit running

I ran the car until it was very low on fuel, but still running. Stopped and got gas and it started fine. Drove about 50 yards and it died. It will still start and only stumble for about 5 seconds. I was thinking change the fuel filter because it sucked up some trash.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

That sounds like a good place to start.
What model/year/engine/tranny you got?(put it in the signature line)
Multi port fuel injection systems with a fuel rail can get vapor locked and do similar things
to what you describe.

There is an inlet screen that filters all but the fine particles. If this blocks up, sometimes waiting will allow particles to fall off the screen and you'll get enough fuel flow to restart. However, fix requires opening fuel tank, cleaning tank and inlet screen. A new fuel filter may help the problem or may not. I would start w/ a fuel filter. If no help, the tank will have to be opened.

good luck

Update,

I took the fitting off of the fuel rail and alot of gas is getting to the rail. Did not put a pressure guage on it.
Next I was going to check the spark and started taking plugs out. The o-ring in the valve cover has failed on three of the fourplugs and partially filled the sparkplug hole. The valve cover gaskets were changed about 6 months ago. Any better way of sealing up the plug holes? And would this cause the spark to fail and kill the car?

thanks.

Can you confirm spark at the plugs?
