1991 Accord, no start
Hello all, I have a 1991 accord that will not start. Cranks fine but no spark. The "S" light is flashing rapidly as well. The car drove fie to school but later it would not start, just crank. I then pulled a plug wire and checked for spark but nothing. I didn't have the proper tools tonight to pull the dist cap so I will have to do that tomorrow. What puzzles me is the "S" light flashing as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if no spark here is what you do
# 1 ... remove oil filler cap, have someone try to start the car while you watch to make sure that the rockers arm move up and down ,,if they DO NOT you got timing belt issues if they DO
# 2 .. remove distr cap,,,,,get a test lite, turn the key on and make sure there is power at both terminal of the coil,, if there is .......... hook up one side of the test lite to a ground the other side to the coil neg side,, have someone crank the engine
if test lite flashes ( pulses ) you got a bad coil
if test lite does not pulsate you got a bad ignitor
of course before all this make sure that wires to coil and ignitor are properly attached and tight
if it is a bad ignitor or a bad coil just replace that part DO NOT replace the complete distributor

Excellent advice. I will try that this morning. I believe the timing belt is ok though because I did look in the valve cover last night and seen the rockers move. I will let you know what I found.

RE: 1991 Accord, no start
Ok, problem solved. The problem was actually the after market alarm system. What started this whole thing was it wouldn't start but it was a battery problem. I replaced the battery then the alram went off. All I had was the key with no remote. I was told the keyless entry didnt work and the alarm wasn't used. Well when I discnnected the battery, the alarm system thought the vehicle was being stolen, disableing the car. The keyless entry didn't work but only because it too had a dead battery in the remote. Short story long, both batteries replaced, car starts fine. Thanks for your advice.
