Default 1991 EX Auto Tranny

Hello
This my sound crazy but it seems my EX auto stays in 2nd gearuseless I use 1 first onthe gearselecter thereason as to why I stay that is.

When at a complete stop I have the car in D4 it has a hard time taking off as if it is in too high a gear (hesitate and has a leak of power). If I start from the light in 1st there is some but not muchhesitationand no leak of power (car responce well)

I also noticed that when driving I can move from 2nd to D3 andit wont shift. The RPMs never drop. [/size]
Also my S port light stays on even ifpress the buttom the S lite doesnt go out.

can anyone point my in the right direction.

WOW!

Well I had to replace the starter on it yesturday the first thing I did was disconnect the battery.

When I started the car the S light was out. Normally that light stays on no matter what. With the light out it shifts fine (thought I prolly need to adjust that cable) but sometimes the light comes bak on but goes out again. When i disconnect the battery it seemed like it reset something.

Anyone know any thing about this. I dont think the trany is blown just yet.

You probably did reset a code when you disconnected the battery, but the fact that the light comes on again and goes off says that there is something up with the tranny.

Ball joints are pressed into the control arms so they can be changed.

Cool how can I check the codes for the tranny?

The reason I asked about the ball joint isit seems no auto parts store sells the top ball joint outside of the upper controll arm

Where what I have found the AT control units From that are made in GA or some part of GA are known to have problems. Does this sound right to you guys ?

Some say S light comes on and car wont come out of thrid gear/downshifts. But when S light is out car drives fine.

I think you can jump the SCS connector under the passenger side of the dash and count the number of flashes, I don't really know.

Ball joints are around $20 online and it's a good idea to get them pressed in at a shop.
