Default 1991 Honda Accord Won't Start / Two Fried Distributors

Same Day: My car had been overheating

That Night: Just before it happened I hit the accelerator as hard as I could and within 5 minutes the car died like it was out of gas. I tried to restart it and it just kept cranking.

Repairs: The radiator, radiator cap, and distributor were replaced. I was told the distributor was fried. I picked my car up and it died on me again within 2 minutes. I left the car with the mechanic and waited for the call back.

I received the phone call. The distributor was fried again. He put another distributor on and said he was going see if it was fixed. I told him to stop work on it, check the computer, error codes, and ignition switch; we need to start diagnosing it. I have not received word back on that yet.

  • Fuel is being delivered.
  • When the distributor fried it was not getting the spark.
  • The valve cover needed to be replaced. One of the o-rings had failed.
  • 200k+ miles.

When diagnosing this where do I focus on? Where is the spike in electricity to fry the distributor coming from? Thank you in advance.
