My drive light goes out while I'm driving and seems like the transmission disengages for a second and the light will come back on and the car runs fine, does not do it often but when it starts it will do it for a few miles then run fine, a few months ago the drive light started flashing an would not start after about 10 minutes it started, the flashing never happened again, now the first problem is happening.

 

By "drive light" do you mean "Check Engine Light" or D4 light? Please confirm.

In either case, you need to extract the stored code to understand the problem. See DIY forum for instructions on extracting the stored code, short service check connector and read Check Engine or D4 light flashes.
