1993 Accord with 135'000 miles: will it run?
Hey guys,
I am just new here in the forum (and the USA ). To enjoy life I am going to buy a car for the next 6 months, and I got interested in Accord's.
I found a '93 LX for 1200 $ with 135'000 miles in an ad on the web. So far, I haven't seen it, I will do that tomorrow.
To examine the car it can't hurt to go there somewhat prepared. I am not a car expert at all (I have a Honda motorcycle, but that's different...).
So: Does anyone know if there are parts or behaviors which I should have a close look on? Is there a way to see whether the motor will run some 10K miles more (without being a mechanic)? Do the 1200 $ sound reasonable?
I would be very grateful for some advices.
Cheers,
Christian
P.S. (to admin/mod): I am not sure if this is the right place for my post. If not please forgive me and move it to where it belongs.

This is the right place to post. Accords can go well past the 135k miles if they are properly maintained.
If the owner has all of the maintenance records, get them to find out what work has been done on the car. I would find out when the timing belt was changed as well.
Test drive the car to see if it drives, shifts, and brakes smoothly.
I would also recommend that you find a shop that specializes in hondas and have them do an inspection. It will be worth the money spent for an inspection to avoid headaches later. They should inspect the braking system, suspension, tires, fluid levels/leaks, etc that would be hard for you to do by just looking at the car.
