Post 1993 Accord when driving it chokes out and getting worse

Here in the last 2-3 days I have noticed when I start my car it is rather rough and I seem to have to hold pedal down to get it going. Which I never really have had to do before. And once I have it in gear it gets worse. Seems like its choking to get gas or get through motor. When it takes off I have to really put it to the floor to move and it shakes and sputters like. Also when I stop at a light I have to put in neutral while keeping foot on gas pedal just to keep her from dieing. I have time now to get under the hood and check things out I am thinking possibly gas filter? or oil getting in plugs? Or plugs just fouling out? This is first place I thought to come hoping someone has had similar problem and may have a few hints as to diagnosing where the problem lies. I am checking all the links and threads here in forum but have yet to find post like mine Help? Please

Does the check engine light turn on while driving?

How many miles are on the current spark plugs? Also, inspect the distributor cap and rotor for signs of wear.

Check simple things first, like what is the condition of the air filter?
