1993 Engine swap
Hmmm... This can be an opportunity to go H22 instead of the F22.. But if its a regular daily driver then i suggest 2 things.. You can either take apart the motor.. resurface the head.. and rebuild her from ground up.. 2 get a motor from a junk or salvage yard... Option 2. is less time and in some cases money consuming.. You can get a used F22 for a decent price.

The easiest would be an identical engine (1990-1993). LX and DX have the same engine. The EX is different. Get the same engine to make the swap a lot easier (no manipulation of the wire harness, new ECU, etc...)
Look at car-part.com for used engine near you. They should be around 300.

It' a '93 10th anniversary edition 4 speed automatic. I was told by the guy I bought it from that '92 or '93 would swap no problem. '90 or '91 would need some minor changes and '94 won't work?
seems about right, if yours isnt vtec it would require a little work to make a vtec motor work. You could get a 94-97 motor to work, as well as prelude motors, but would require more work, it is perhaps something you would want to talk to your son about, because he would have more power this way(if this is something he is interested in, or perhaps you dont want him to have more power[&:]). You could get a stock motor out of a 4th gen accord(90-93) for about $300
