1993 honda accord door lights flashing after TCU swap
1993 honda accord door LX sedan, lights flashing after TCU swap.
In one of my threads called "1993 honda accord mysterious D4 solid now D4 blinks. I swapped TCU with old junkyard TCU to troubleshoot. That TCU was really bad. So I swapped back to the broken original TCU.
Once I did that I got a all door lights flash indicator every once in a while when I drive. I took it to the a auto parts store to get the battery and alternator checked. Both were good. So as I suspect when I was replacing the TCU
I may have loosed a wire or something. So I did a little bit research on this problem on a search engine. I found one thread were a guy had this problem and it went unsolved. Another repair website said something about checking certain grounds. I found the G401 wire behind the hood cable release latch. I took a picture, it looked good. But that wasn't the area anyways were I was swapping the TCU. The area is under the glove compartment and under the carpet. Now there is another ground wire. It's called G402. One graph indicates that is under the kick panel towards the right of the glove compartment. There is a panel one under the door. I removed that one. And there is another I removed that one. And I didn't find the G402 ground. And on another graph its towards the left of the glove compartment. I can't find that one either. If anyone has this honda accord near the same year. And can find it let me know. But there is a strange wire coming out of the glove compartment. I don't know what it does. I noticed there is electrical tape wrapped around it. Maybe that was the loose wire. I pressed on the electrical tape thinking that would secure the wires to be tight. I don't remember when and where and what was done with that wire. I'm tempted to unplug that wire and see what it does. Or taking the electrical tape off of it. I will upload the pictures to show what I'm talking about. Anyways, anyone know where G402 ground is? And what is the strange cable for? Or could it be something else that makes it blink?
Door lights flashing on and off from time to time.
G401 ground cable behind hood cable latch. It looks good.
This is the strange cable or wire right in front of my TCU. That I had to move away when I did the swap.
This is where the strange cable or wire hooks up to. It's behind the glove compartment. What's it for?
The last picture is hard to tell exactly from the angle, but I think that is motor to open/close the air recirculation on the HVAC.
For the brake lamp/door, check that all the brake lights work when you press the brake pedal.
I see. I'm thinking about unplugging that and seeing what happens. And to see if air comes out of the vents or if the door flashers, trunk, etc stop flashing. I will also check my brake lights. I'm just waiting for a good day for it to stop raining out. My TCU arrives today (I got to retrieve that package as soon as possible I can't take any chances of them leaving it out in the rain!). I was kind of hoping something of like this wouldn't happen. Because I'm not a expert on this kind of issue. I do remember my battery light indicator once popping on and off. And I just ignored it. It doesn't seem to happen anymore. Maybe it's because I replaced the battery. Although, far fetched I don't necessarily want to rule out the battery and alternator just yet just because they tested out good. I might even go as far as to ask the auto part store if I can test out a new one and see if it happens. I really doubt they would allow me to do that although.
I also did some snooping around on this forum. I found a member on this forum. He name is drummer1279. He encountered the same issue. One of his threads is named "another oddity". It's from a 2008. And if he did get it resolved he never mentioned anything in his thread. About a month later he did mention something about a ECU problem. Also, I have encountered other threads, not typically the same problem. But one guy mentioned resetting his ECU and it resolved the problem. Now I don't know if just disconnecting the battery resets the ECU itself. I might try pulling a fuse to see if that helps. It's also to worth to note that when I pulled the TCM out. The ECU is right next to it. Once I unplug the TCM by pushing down the tabs with a flat head. I turn the metal casing to the left so I can unscrew the TCU. Now I believe the ECU itself is connected by three wire connectors. Maybe it's possible, maybe it came just a little bit loose. I kind of doubt that because a non connected ECU would cause major issues. But you never know it's worth a check.
There was another thread posted on another forum labeled "93 honda accord interior door lights flashing" He had the same problem as well. And that went unresolved as well. It appears to me that some people with the issues may have not reported back if the problem was ever resolved or not. Or they just ignored the issue and just kept driving their car like that.
