Time to start checking for good connections in the harness. Look at the plug for the VSS and make sure it is not corroded or oily.

Default VSS switch

Took my car in for a replacement switch $225.00 for the new Honda VSS switch and $75.00 for labor. I 'd say 1 is it a new switch. 2 is it genuine Honda part. 3 is the repair shop good with good recommendations. If all is yes then as mentioned check the connections as something may have come loose. My Honda has been fine since it was replaced 2 months ago and it does drive a little smoother with the switch and thank god that D4 light isn't blinking anymore. Good luck.
