[:@]I am having erratic speedometer problems. Starts out great but after a few miles down the road the speedometer either quits or bounces around. The cruise will drop out. Also, on one occassion while sitting still at idle the needle was registering around 30 MPH. I have noticed that when the needle starts to bounce erraticly while driving and the turn signal is used the needle will bounce in rythm with the blinking of the turn signal. Sometimes the speedometer will just quit and the check engine light will come on. Does this sound like a sensor problem or maybe an electrical problem? All other instruments are working properly.

 

you know what i have a 91 lx and i am having the same problem... my engine check light comes on and then it sometimes goes off but it wont come on again for a while if u shut it down, but i think the sensor is going bad, come on, the cars a 91 almost14 yrs old its time for a new one

 

Briley - many similar symptoms among same cars - before replacing VSS - let the garage test it first

it might be more than just Speed Sensor - ask around
