Howdy,
I have a 1994 Honda Accord, Automatic Transmission, no ABS. I need to order a replacement part from RockAuto and I am curious what, if any are the differences between the manual and automatic half-shafts.

For example, I know I can use an ABS CV Axle because the ABS teeth have nothing to interact with. Can I order a cheaper, manual axle or do I need to drop the extra cash for the auto CV shaft.

I'm guessing there has to be a difference in CV joint length or the splines at the transmission between the automatic and the manual. I'd recommend getting the automatic to be safe.

on cars in general I have seen different lengths of axles between auto & manual axles

another weird one is the bearing sealing surface on inner CV joint may be different diameter. saw where rookie mechanic put wrong axle in & had major leak, funny how the parts store refused to warranty the wrong part because it was used & they had to repack it it wouldnt been an issue if had not been used,if correct part was issue they wouldnt have gave problem, but car was driven a few hundred miles leaking like crazy so axle showed wear, but owner had bought axles, & took to a garage & someone put the axles in without noticing it fit loose. we put in new seal on tranny & it was still loose enough had issue so measured surface & measured another "correct" bearing & figured out real fast. owner had to pay for another new axle, this time correct one.
