Default 1995 Accord 2.2L DX MT - sputters on accelleration

I have a 1995 Honda Accord which has about 226K miles on it. It's been quite reliable but as late I've noticed issues while accelerating. This can happen in any gear and seems to be more of an issue when in the 800 - 2200 RPM range and attempting to accelerate. At higher RPMs the car runs fine, it idles fine. The only other time where this seems to get worse is if the AC is running. There's no CEL on and honestly this light has only come on once since I've owned the car. I thought it might be a fuel filter issue but wouldn't that also cause problems at higher RPMs?
I've done a bit of research and most people having this problem seem to also have a CEL. Most of the advise was that it was likely an ignition coil. I haven't checked that yet as I don't have the tools and will likely just take it to the shop for repair if I can't get it figured out.

Thanks for your help!

Read forum posting rules and don't post in DIY forum

If spark plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor are old, I would start w/ these.

EGR manifold plugging can cause this problem (poor acceleration from mid range rpm). Remove/clean EGR manifold and EGR passages. Check DIY forum for guidance.

good luck
