Default 1995 accord wagon srs light. chronic problem?

I've got a 95 accord. The srs light is ablaze.

again. previous owner states he replaced the module 2 years ago for the same problem.

we cleared the code and it came back, so, it appears the srs module is in need of replacement.

i figure i can find one in junkyard and install it myself.

couple of questions.

where is the module located. in the passenger footwell?

what causes this failure?

it seems to be a common weakness. anyone ever taken the module apart to see exactly what it is that's breaking in there.

I assume the way to fix it is, disconnect battery. wait for power to drain. unplug old module. plug in new one. reset radio code. away you go.

anything else?

What code are you getting?
Your description for the R&R is correct.
I never have opened one up to look for bad solder joints or burned resistors.

I'm not sure what the exact code was, but i took it to a friendly honda repair shop up the street and they, read the code, reset the code, and said if it went off again I would need a new srs module.

It went off again about a week later.

So, where is this mystery box located?

I bet someone that knew there electric doodads could take the module apart, refresh the dilithium crystals and fix it in 10 seconds.

That person isn't me.

I've seen used srs units on ebay for 30-50 dollars. I see one in my future.

It'd be nice to know what's going on in there though. Seems like lot of folks are needing to make this repair.

And riding around without airbags, in a car designed to use it's airbags in an impact is a bad idea.

Time to go Dash Diving;
The Control Module is located under the center console forward of the shifter, if you are sneaky you can get it out with out removing all the trim. It uses torx bolts to fasten it in place.
You will see all the Yellow wires going to it.
