Default 1995 Tachometer and missing engine.

After driving my 1995 Accord Ex for 3 - 5 miles, the tachometer starts jumping wildly. Almost immediately the engine starts missing. I had the car scanned, but nothing relating to this problem showed up. Does anyone have any idea of what could be happening or how to fix it. The car is still in great shape.
Thanks,
91guns

The only thing that the scanned showed was a bad O2 sensor.

I’m gonna guess vss and or bad timing...let’s see what jim has to say. If he doesn’t pop in try to PM jimblake.
When your tach is jumping around is the engine actually matching to the revs or is the tackhjust going haywire?

The tach is just going haywire. I can be going 25 mph of 60 mph and when it starts, the engine misses but doesn't agree with the tach. Sometimes the tach will stop completely .

Hey g22cd5,

I can't find jimblake in the members last. Does he have another user name?

V-6 engine? If so, the tach signal comes from the coil & that's unlike other Accords. Other than that, I just got back from vacation & don't have much time right now to think about that.
