1996 Accord Power Door Locks
Are these locks supposed to make any noise at all? If I click lock inside the car it will lock my pass side but not the drivers side. That's a manual move on my part. When I need to lock the car it is by key only, I can hear a actuator type sound but it does lock. Its done this for years.
Well when the doors unlocked and I'm in the car, if I hit the power lock button just the passengers side locks. I have to push the actual lock by the handle for it to lock on my side. Is this some semi preventative feature to keep me from locking my key in the car?
Wait for it. This is slowly sinking in and slapping me upside the head in tandem. Clarity is a beautiful thing. They run in a line these locks. Of course the pass. Side works its not broken. The drivers side has never worked without a key. But makes a crazy laggy actuator noise. Has for years. Stupid snow here :/ I'm hitting up the bone yard asap.
Thanks Redbull-1, wasn't sure where this was going yesterday.
Red- there is a safety feature that will not allow the drivers door to lock if it is open - I guess to keep you from locking your keys in the car?. The way around this is to hold the inside handle in the open position as you lock the drivers door.
That is why I asked what the lock does when you are sitting inside the car with the door closed and you try to lock the door.
So if the door is closed and the lock will not move using the switch...then there is something up in that circuit. This could be in the wires, controller, linkage or the actuator. The fun is finding which it is

Funny thing I thought this was normal with this car. It did it when My brother owned it and since he was the honda kid he swore it was a safety feature (slap) the drivers side lock has never worked at all without a key. Not even if im in the car Door shut sitting the power lock button. Just makes the actuator noise. Soon as this wretched snow goes away the car and I are going to have a talk.

Well, talk nice to it.
It could be the actuator. Easy way to tell....pull the panel and see if you are getting voltage to it. If you are and there is no movement of the actuator....time for replacing.
If there is voltage and some movement, then there are a few other things you can check/test.
If there is no voltage, there is another set of tests you will need to do....fun with a volt meter. I don't think I've said it today...I HATE electrical things
