Default 1997 accord 2.2 a/t multiple engine issues

I'm having quite a few problems with this car
Stutters, backfires through intake and exhaust, won't exceed 3k rpms at all, runs decent when it's cold but once it warms up it wants to stall Everytime I slow down and come to a stop there's smoke coming from the firewall area and sometimes it doesn't want to start at all and takes a while the rocker assembly is also ticking
So far I've tested compression and that's good its getting good fuel pressure cam gear and crank shaft are both lined up
I keep getting a p1362
It has new cap and rotor, wires, plugs, fuel pump I'm leaning towards it being the crank position sensor but I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas of something I may have overlooked

Was any work done or issues with the car before the problem first happened?

I'd troublehoot the P1362 code. Remember the code can mean the sensor, the wiring, or the PCM as the root cause.

The problems has been around since I bought it I've already ordered a new crank sensor gonna try that first and check that make sure the balance shaft and everything is lined up then if that doesn't help I'll look at the pcm

It is a good idea to clean and tighten the main ground (G101) for the PCM. It is on the upper intake manifold on the brake booster side.

See thread below for the location. My post was wrong on the location based on the picture, but someone else put a better image of the location.

Problem partially solved crankshaft position sensor was part of the problem it no longer bogs or has any rpm drops however it still does not rev past 3k

Problem completely solved ended up replacing a faulty cam sensor and it's good now discovered on top of that the fuel tank was rusted out completely I used a gas can as a temporary tank and with fresh fuel pumping it runs perfectly
