1998 accord fault codes. I have a 98 V6 4 door accord. Check engine light is on. Code is P1457. Evaporative emission control system leak in canister. I put a hand pump vacuum gauge on the can and no leak. If I clear the code it takes a little while to come back on. Any ideas? Thanks

 

I posted a pretty detailed bunch of stuff to check for that, if you search for the code number.

Most common is a bad canister vent-shut valve. The EVAP canister is located roughly under the left-rear seat. The CVS valve is on the outboard end of that canister.

But it MIGHT be the EVAP purge valve at the intake manifold, or a half-dozen other things. Check em out before you start throwing parts at it.

 

I thought the canister was on the firewall in the middle down low?

 

If that is OBD II my jeep threw the same code for a loose gas cap.
