If they remove injectors and individually clean them w/ special device, that may be reasonable. If they inject fuel injector cleaner in at the fuel rail to clean in place, that's a bit pricey.

Several ways to DIY. You can remove injectors and send them out to a FI cleaning service (check ebay), or rig a DIY injector cleaner (see extensive list of youtube videos on subject).

Did they perform a balance test on injectors to determine that one or more are restricted? If not, this service is a "shot in the dark" and may/may not solve your problem.

good luck

There is only an inlet screen below (upstream) the fuel pump in the fuel tank. No fuel filter downstream of fuel pump, as was the case in previous model Accords (90-97).

So the fuel pump was removed to access fuel tank? If not how was a sample obtained? Fuel rail? Tank likely needs to be removed and cleaned. If there is debris in the tank and no cleaning, the same problem may re-occur.

You should know exactly what they plan before paying $500 for a possible fix.

Cleaning may not resolve a FI blockage and new or used injectors may be necessary.

good luck

Obviously, the fuel pump inlet screen did not catch the particles in the injectors. Tank needs replacing (used or new part) w/ a clean tank. Otherwise you may get to repeat the exercise.

good luck

Be sure to get a filter w/ correct inlet/outlet pressure and adequate fllow rate.

I found following which should work.

Fram G6436 Fuel Filter in Line for Honda Accord Prelude | eBay

good luck
