Default 1998 Accord Petrol Guage issues

Hi,

My old man has purchased a rather nice Accord for us to do up (as mechanical noobs with just a Haynes manual and the internet to help us - this may not end well ). The main issue with the car is that the petrol guage never shows the correct amount of fuel. Some times it randomly jumps, but then resettles at empty, despite having about £60 worth of fuel in it.

So far the sensor in the fuel tank has been replaced and this has not helped with the issue. Any ideas on what could be causing this or how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Ross

search for fuel gage/sender testing...it's pretty straight forward testing.

If you already changed the sender, then maybe it's the wiring. Got a multi-meter to test continuity of the wiring?

Cheers, I'll give that a test. I was reading that the instrument panel on this version can be a bit unreliable, so that may be the port of call after buying a multi meter, if that doesn't detect anything wrong.
