Default 1998 Accord Rough Idle

I need some assistance. I have a 1998 w.2.3l vtech that has a rought idle and seems like it wants to stall. We recently replace the head gasket, had a valve job done and the head pressure tested. Replaced the timing belt and all other belts and the water pump. Before we did the work the car ran fine except it used water due to the head gasket leak.

If I bring the tach up to about 1200 rpm it smooths out when driving down the road it runs fine and I have no problem. Any advice before I take it to a shop.. I had a friend do the work and he has years workig on honda's but he can not figure it out. He has checked all connections and cleaned them. Double checked the timing.

And I'll assume you are not getting any codes?

No codes? After the work could there be a vac leak or something that didn't get re-connected. I'd go over everything again. Last, and it is a reach (means I don't know)..on some models, don't remember the years, the ECU has to re-learn idle.

Thanks Jim, I knew I saw this recently....too many things going on at once. I was pretty sure of the years but I put that statement in there because I was not 100% sure, therefore I didn't want to sent someone down the wrong path....Thanks as always

I used to own a 1998 Accord & a 1995 Integra (both could re-learn the idle), otherwise I don't really know what's the earliest year for that.
