1998 Honda Accord EX 4CYL - Removed O2 sensor
My car was having problems accelerating, initial thought it was the FPR, so I replaced and the car seemed better, but then continue to have the same acceleration problems. The codes were and are still P0170 and P0171.
Continuing to diagnose the problem, I disconnected the front O2 sensor, and things were drastically better. My gas mileage even jumped a couple miles to 27MPG.
Emissions will require the O2 sensor connecting, which the engine codes usually don't trigger with the O2 sensor installed until 50 miles after being reset.
Obviously, it's there for a reason, but what harm is being done to my engine running without the front O2 sensor, or I'm I just polluting the air and contributing to "global thermal nuclear warming?" I'm a big War Games fan. I realize it's Global Warming, whatever.
Thanks in advance.
