1998 Honda Accord Power Steering Noise
Hey guys, I have a '98 LX 3.0 V6 coupe that the power steering groans like there is not tomorrow. I just flushed the system yesterday and it sounded a TON better, but then this morning, it was loud again. Any ideas? And before you ask, I used Honda fluid from AutoZone. Thanks in advance

This is a problem on many V6 Accords and Acuras. There is a leak on the suction side pulling air into PS fluid. Most frequent cause is a hard/leaking oring on the suction inlet fitting to the PS pump. It can be a loose hose fitting, defective hose, or possibly a blocked screen in the PS reservoir.
Low fluid level in PS reservoir can cause same problem. Low fluid level is caused by leakage somewhere.
good luck

I'll replace the o-ring in the next couple of days and flush the system again. Thanks for all of your help. While I'm in there, I might as well replace the rubber hose. Do you know if it is a special hose or can I purchase it by the foot at an auto parts house? Thanks again in advance.

On most the hose is special w/ pre-formed curves and angles. It's not too expensive. I found matching oring from an AC oring set I had. Check ebay for similar sets or most auto parts stores have a box of orings to choose from.
