1999 Honda Accord power steering problem
Hell everyone,
Just found this forum and hope to find some help here.
My powersteering reservoir has overflowed today.
When i look in the res , the fluid is flowing like crazy and creating
a vortex to the suction line. When it does this the pump sounds like a pump starving for fluid ( air sucking into the suction line by the vortex)
There is no entrained air in the system. ( fluid not foamy at all)
When starting in the morning ,the belt sqeals for a couple seconds then
stops and as long as the car is warmed up it doesnt squeal again until it cools down.
I have tried 2 new belts and tightened correctly. The pump spins freely and has no noise othen then normal run noise.
The car steers fine except when at lower rpm's and the pump is sucking air from the res and the noisy pumps starts .
Any ideas ?

The power steering reservoir has a filter screen near the bottom to keep contaminants from getting into the power steering pump. The screen may be restricted/clogged which may be causing what you’re observing. To clean, remove the reservoir and back flush.
