2000 Accord mileage
Hi. Just wondering how many high-mileage 2000 V6 Accords are out there. I have one with 108K miles and I'm hoping that it still has a long way to go. It gets pretty regular service and frequent (every 2500 miles) oil changes. Needs a timing belt, though.
thanks.
thanks.

RE: 2000 Accord mileage
Mine's not a V6 but my 2000 LX has around 114,500. My 95 V6 has almost 114k - just had the timing belt changed last weekend. Still runs like a champ besides for the problem I have outlined in my "RPM Fluctuations" post.

Thanks for the reply. I was just wondering, what did it cost you for the timing belt replacement? I live in Western CT and I've gotten 4 quotes to replace the timing belt and water pump, and all 4 are in the $700-$800 range ( 2 are Honda dealers, 2 are not). I'm told the job takes about 5-6 hours. I know the cost would be different for a '95 V6, but it should be in the ballpark of a '00. Thanks.

RE: 2000 Accord mileage
The t-belt on the '95 V6 looked a lot less complicated than the 4cyl. The Honda dealers around here quoted it at $750. I bought the parts myself from the dealer (A little bit under $200 for t-belt, water pump, & seals - all genuine Honda parts). My family has had a mechanic(non-honda tech -he works on everything though)that has worked on our cars since I was a toddler. He quoted the price at $300 but then he tried to onlycharge me $200. I gave him $300 anyway - trust me, I don't like to throw money away, but I felt like it was the right thing to do. So the total for that one was a bit less than $500.
I am not going to ask him to change the t-belt on my 2000 LX though. I do feel comfortable in his abilities, but he does not normally do things like t-belts. He just did my 95 V6 as kind ofa favor.
Plus I had to leave the V6 at his shop for a week since he lives an hour away from where I now live. The Honda dealers in townall quote $750. I found a few Honda/Acura specialist shops in town. I am taking it to one that will do the t-belt, water pump, & seals for $630.
