2000 Accord oil ineffiency
I have had problems with my 2000 Accord (115,000 miles)burning throughoil for awhile (~30,000) but have been keeping up with it by putting in ~2qt every 1,000 miles. Multiple places have told me there is no leak, just inefficiency. However, a shop now now says that i have burnt valves. I'm pretty car illiterate, so my questions are these:
-Can low oil lead tothe valves being burnt, and how much would replacing the valves entirely normallycost?
- i'm thinking of cutting my losses and getting a new car, but worried about the resale value of a 8-yr old car with a bad enginge. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Well, first off; burnt valves would cause an engine miss and a misfire code on the CEL.
However in 1998 Honda changed to a softer'composite' cylinder wall, to have slightly less friction and to improve CAFE ratings.
I have no doubt Soichiro Honda rolled over in his grave when that design came out.
So in effect the cylinder walls can wear and the oil wiper rings are not as effective, allowing oil to be burned off.
