i have a 2000 accord LX 4cyl with a CHeck engine and a maintenance light. it runs fine but when i shut it off and put fuel into it, when i try to start it again it wont start right up. I need to try to start it, put the key back into the off position, and then start it.

any idea?

 

Maintenance light is simply a reminder based on milage. Reset procedure is given in a lot of threads around here.

You should go to AutoZone or someplace like that to get the error code for the check-engine light. Get the actual code number (P1234 or whatever) because the guy's description can be pretty creative.
