Here's hoping, especially if I have to pay for the stupid thing!

Anyways, I just called Honda Customer Relations to get that ball rolling, so I will know soon enough how much I will have to pay for this thing! If they do nothing for me, it will be the last Honda product I ever purcahse, but I havn't crossed that road yet.

Just to update, Honda is willing to pay for the part, I have to pay for the labour (which seems to be a common deal they are making on these things). So, if your in my boat, I highly suggest calling Honda Corporate (in my case, Honda Canada), you can probably get a break. Still kindof expensive ($1000-1200 or so), but no longer insanely expensive!

What kind of warranty are they offering on the trans?

I forgot to ask, will do so when I confer with the local dealership. The impression I got was that I could get a similar deal if this one goes in a similar time frame (obviously not guaranteed or in writing or anything). The warranty had I paid in full is only 1 year, 20,000km (so pretty useless).

I have a 2000 Accord LX 4 cylinder automatic. I purchased it new and it now has 96,000 miles on it. I’ve had all the required maintenance done on it at the dealer. So far the automatic transmission has been ok. The only problem I’ve had with the car was the SRS light coming on which the dealer fixed for free. After seeing your post and a whole lot of complaints from others on the internet, I’m worried about having a $3,000 plus repair bill in the near future. I’m wondering if it would be better to sell the car now and get what I can out of it. It sounds like the quality of the rebuilt transmissions is suspect. Was your driving mainly city, mainly highway or both? Did you have the fluid changed on it (I usually have mine done every 30k miles)? Has anyone installed a trans cooler on one of these? Did it make any difference? Anybody have thoughts on sell or keep? Thanks.
