Default 2000 Honda Accord 2.3 VTECH Speedometer and Tachometer Recalibration

Just changed out my transmission on this car with a JDM Auto trans, and its running GREAT! The only problem is now the speedometer is 10 mph slow and the TACH is 10 rpm to fast. How do i re calibrate it? And I am sure they are both wrong.

Thanks

Pretty sure there isn't a procedure to re calibrate the tach/speedo on the '00 Accord's.

I used the sensors off of my old trans, would there be different sensors for this JDM trans? The VSS should be the same right?

The tach signal comes from the ignitor for spark, so the transmission isn't the source for the 10 rpm error. 10 rpm is not significant to me.

The 10 mph on the speedometer would come from the VSS. You may want to try the JDM speed sensor. I'm not too sure of the internals of the VSS. There may be a different gear ratio on the US VSS that could cause the speedometer error. It is worth swapping to find out if this fixes the problem.

This JDM trans came from a Odyssey, and its identical to the original, with exception of the sensors using different plugs. I would guess I can cut and splice in the JDM, is that what your saying to do?

I have the same year accord and replaced my transmission and are having the exact same issues. I replaced the VSS and nothing happened. Did you ever find a solution?

Default The Fix

I gave up and sold the car. I was told by a guy that he had the same issue, and he replaced the 15's with 16's and that fixed it. But I dont know how that would change the tac? So, my answer would be that I never fixed it. I wish I had better info for you but I have to say, I really love my "newer" 2003 Accord ;-)
