I need instructions on changing the housing for the auxillary tape drive where the console and the dash meet. Mine is cracked, I have one, but can't quite figure how to get at the screws. I've searched and can read about others removals, but nothing locates the fastners or tells exactly which panels must be removed. Must the center console come out? Looks like only the knee panels for the passenger and driver are required to remove.

That sure looks like the same console. Doesn't appear any of that needs to be removed. This reveal molding around the tape player mounts on top of item 11. So I guess the fastners are concealed with the knee panels below the dash on each side. If any of this snow ever melts, I'll check that.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I got that picture for a 2000 V-6; so it should be yours.
Mine didn't have that player, on mine there was just a plain panel above #11. It was a pain to grab hold of that panel, but it simply snapped downwards into #11.
These drawings are from the parts catalog, they don't always show the little details of where EVERY fastener is located. So they're not going to be a complete help. I forget how the fasteners are arranged for #11 in that picture above.
The knee bolsters are #13 & 17. You have to open the fuseboxes on both ends of the dash to get a couple screws there.

Thanks! This is great information.
I think 12 may represent the tape player. In earlier years it was under the radio, I think. We had one installed at purchase through parts and they did it in the storage bin. I'm thinking the bolsters should get me to the back two screws. The front ones are on the bottom of the tape player and just need a stubby there. Hopefully I don't need to remove the center panel to get to the electrical plug on the radio. We'll see. I really appreciate the information.

Looks like #12 & #47 are alternate things that go in there?? Not sure, because for 2000 EX-V6 12 & 47 are NOT listed in the parts list. The picture is shared between several years/versions. Or maybe because it's an optional accessory?

I would agree Jim. Can't imagine what 47 could be, however. Looks like a box. The tape player appears to be shared over several years, even being mounted up under the radio with a single DIN radio. Just the mount is special for this installation. Body shop broke mine during repair. Just can't prove it if you know what I mean. It was a dealer installed accessory.
