Default 2000 v6 transmission range problem.

I have a 1998 accord v6 with a bad transmission, I bought a Transmission from a 2000 accord. My problem is where the range sensor goes there is no shaft and not even a hole where shaft should be. The range sensor fits over the shaft and turns sensor and makes contact indicating what the gear position is. I drove the donner car and it worked fine. It had to of had a range sensor to work also it serves as a neutral switch, but when I got it home and started cleaning it that's when I noticed that there is no place to hook up a range sensor. I searched extensively online and all honda transmission s from 1998 to 2002 and beyond have the range sensor in the same place. This transmission doesn't even have a hole in the case where the small shaft should be. I know the transmission should be a B7XA but there is no ID stamped on it, there is a paper sticker but its blank. I hope someone can help solve this.

I hate to be the barer of bad news, but AT's of 6th gen Accords are actually split for years. There's the 98 and 99 V6, and the 00 thru 02 V6 (clockwise rotation), along with matching I-4 cars (counter clockwise rotation). The differences are mostly electronic. This IS called out in the 6th gen FSM. As for the missing hole, that might also be a part of it (the differences), as it sounds like they moved the electronics for the shifter inside in 2000, versus being outside for 98-99. You might want to go look at the donor car shifter assembly, and see if what you're looking for is in it. You might need to build a conversion harness too, so keep that in mind.
I hope this helps.

Hey thanks for the lead, it's the first info that even comes close to what I'm looking for. I am searching the web looking for info on what you suggested but nothing. If you come across any more info I would sure appreciate it, I will be checking out the donner cars console as you said maybe parts in there that can be useful. Thanks a lot

I have the 4 cylinder FSM (both of my Accords are 4 cylinder cars), and it helps for some stuff, but the V6 supplement is the one to get, It's over 1300 pages and only covers V6 cars. I used to have a link to the pdf of that supplement, but the link has gone dead. You could try asking over on 6th gen accords.com, as there might be someone still active over there that might be able to help you. Don't bet on it though, as the site has basically gone archive (was the last time I was there).
