I have a loud grinding that increases when I accelerate and stops when brakes are applied. No reduction in grinding when I turn the car R or L. If this is not a wheel bearing, is this more likely the CV axle failing where it goes into the differential or an input shaft bearing issue? The grinding is loud and is definitely not a knock or growl sound.

 

Look at front brake pads. Their is a tab that hits the rotor to tell you the pads are worn out.
