I have a 2003 Accord, 52800 miles, 4 cyl, manual xmission. My son and I were trying to replace the air filter. We removed the air intake duct off the air cleaner housing to slip off the cover. In the process the air intake duct broke! Will it be fine driving the car with duct tape wrapped around the damaged area? How involved is the process for replacing the air intake duct?
The break on the intake duct is at an inside crease so it's not very practical to apply the duct tape. Being it is the inside crease also means the leakage is going to be "small". I forgot to mention that a clamp (about 1.25" diameter) had fallen out in the process, see picture. Where might this belong?
Not willing to take a chance, I got a ride to the dealer and brought home the air intake hose. It was quite a process trying to get the old one off, transfer clamps etc to the new part and put it all together. I finally figured out where the above mentioned clamp goes. The air filter cover is also back on with 3 screws. Hard as I might try, I can't get the 4th screw in. The car drives fine.
